Montpellier Defender Emir Spahić Linked To Arsenal (Video + Profile)

Emir Spahić, a defender who currently plays for Montpellier in Ligue 1 is being tipped for a move to Arsenal.  This 29 year old Bosnian also captains his national side.  He comes as a no nonsense type of defender, who is adept with playing with either foot.  Emir Spahić is quotes as having said this:

The most important thing is that so far the negotiations go as planned and that the transfer could be completed soon. Arsenal is a great club, I’m an admirer of Arsene Wenger and I hope that Montpellier will cooperate

Goal.com actually included him in their Ligue 1 team of the year (source), which tells a lot about the player.  Here is what Goal.com had to say about him:

Signed by Rene Girard last summer, the Bosnian was considered to be something of a risk as MHSC had only seen him play on DVDs. It was a gamble that paid off spectacularly as the 29-year-old has been one of France’s outstanding players over the course of the campaign, playing a pivotal role in La Paillade’s terrific success, which has seen them get into Europe in their first campaign amongst France’s elite.
