Almunia Hero Video: Time To Brainwash Ourselves Into Believing He's The Awesome Keeper We've Always Wanted

So, the transfer window shuts down and we’ve signed no goalkeeper.  What to say?  Watch the video below and go to sleep:

Cavemen 1 – 2 Arsenal Report + Highlights + Thoughts + CC Draw + No More Transfers?

So a deserving win for Arsenal as we beat Fat Sam’s dry-cleaning team.  Obviously it’s a good result for us, because Blackburn has not always been easy to beat.  We started pretty well, with RVP controlling the ball superbly and feeding on-rushing Walcott for him to shoot and rip the Blackburn net.  Then typical Arsenal followed when we were caught on the break and the Dioufs (including the despicable one) teamed up to make our defenders look like school boys.  Gael Clichy was caught ball-watching as Mame Diouf ghosted past him to tap into an open goal.

Stupid defending really, got me really fuming.  The second half started even better and Blackburn had lost a bit of their wildness (tiredness probably) and started to allow Arsenal more space.  We duly exploited this failing of the opposition an Arshavin scored another goal to get his goal tally for the season up to two.  Walcott’s up to four and is joint top-scorer with Drog-cunt—ba, Malou-cunt-da and Andy Carroll.

The unfortunate incidents of the match was that RVP has to be replaced by Chamakh due to injury.  I blame Wenger entirely for this.  He knew Blackburn was a physical side, he knew RVP is injury-prone, yet he played him.  As I pointed out in yesterday’s preview, there' was great risk of getting RVP, TW14 and TR7 injured by playing them against those brutes.  AW dropped Rosicky of course, but risked both Walcott and RVP.  We’re fortunate that RVP has only twisted his ankle and will be out for 8-10 days and will miss the interlull, which is good for us.

One thing that particularly amused me during the match was Pedersen’s drying the ball every time there was a throw-in, but ironically, their goal came from playing proper football, by walking the ball into the net, something we try to overdo.

Fabregas was back too, but could not hold out for the complete 90 minutes and had to be substituted.  I expect more to come from him as the season progresses.  Manuel got the armband from Cesc, and I have to say, that he performed admirably today, no complaints.  He showed the form which won him his place in the starting lineup from Jens.  Keep up the good form, maybe you could win us over again.

In other news, we’ve got the Sp*rs for our Carling Cup round.  Surely our young boys is more than enough to beat them.  Knowing the scums though, I know ‘Arry will send his big boys out to try trample our kiddies, but fear not, our CC team this year might not be so young and inexperienced.  You can expect to have Wilshere, Vela, Gibbs, JET, Eastmond, Nordtveit and others, who have plenty of experience.  A win from our fringe players will only further sink Sp*rs into humiliation, if they have not been humiliated enough by being beaten by Wigan, a team which was hammered 4-0 and 6-0 by Blackpool and Chelsea during their first two matches.

Interestingly enough, from the interview from SkySports, Wenger says that for him, the transfer period is over.  Here' are the exact quotes:

“For us, the transfer period is already over”.

You can watch the interview below, links are provided.  Does this mean that there will be no signings?  Well, if a good bargain comes his way, Wenger won’t hesitate to get another addition to his team, but for now, I think he means that he’s got all the players that he wanted, anymore guys who will come in wil probably be for adding depth to the squad.  We’ll know soon enough though.  However, there’s some development in the Schwarzer affair as Given looks likely to join Fulham on loan.  If this happens, Schwarzer could head our way.  Here’s what cunt Hughes has to say about it all, make of it whatever you want to.

"I'm always interested in quality players and Shay Given is a quality player. Make of that what you will. But I have said that if we can't get anyone else in, Schwarzer will have to stay."

So that’s it from me, enjoy the highlights below:

Blackburn Preview + Lineup + Thoughts

So today we play Blackburn, clearly a case of the beauty and the beast.  Blackburn will host us and one thing I’m certain about is that they’re really going to get physical with us.  I would have loved to have Squillaci playing today, and would have been glad to see him deal with those tossers, but well, this is not to be.  However, we’ve got Koscielny back, who will have to produce a sterling display to prove his critics wrongs – yeah those who say he won’t be able to deal with the physical and aerial type of play.

Since we will be playing brutal cavemen today, this, for me, disqualifies certain players for playing.  If I were AW, I wouldn’t field RVP, Rosicky and Walcott.  Fab would replace Rosicky, Eboue for Walcott.  So my lineup would look like:

-------------Superman-------------

Sagna – KOS – TV – Clichy

-----------------Song----------------

-------------Fab – Diaby----------

----Eboue – MC – AA-------

If we’re winning the game, I’ll throw in Denilson for getting some match fitness and Wilshere/Vela for some playtime.  If we need some goals, throw in our brittle men (RVP/Rosicky/Walcott).

Arsenal.com has been trying to get us excited over the Carling Cup draw, but who gives a toss about who we get to play?  Our kiddies will probably smash them anyway.  Like every year, the CC provides good entertainment and a platform for the fringe players to show they’re ready for prime time and maybe win something.  So, I’m looking forward to it.

The transfer window deadline day is looming on the horizon and I hope AW is looking through his rose-tinted glasses at a goalkeeper, because, seriously I have serious concerns over the clowns who are the no.1 and no. 2.  Almunia for me is a goalkeeper who looks to have no freaking desire to improve.  I don’t find him a player with the right attitude.  He doesn’t want to learn, has no ambition to become a great keeper according to me.  He may prove me wrong, but the image that I see from him is that.

Anyway, I hope two more players come in before the window shuts down.  I would like to have a goalkeeper and a defensive midfielder.  That’s it from me, enjoy the match and feel free to leave comments!

Arsenal’s CL Group + We Wish Sp*rs All The Bad Luck

The Champion League’s draw has taken place yesterday and we’ve been drawn into a relatively easy group.  We’ve got Shakhtar Donetsk, Portugal’s SC Braga, and FK Partizan of Belgrade.  Shakhtar means reunion with Dudu.  Arsenal fans are planning to give him a proper farewell during the home match, which I find great, as the player deserves it.  Shakhtar will probably be the most difficult opponent of the group.  However, if we get an injury crisis (which is common with us), even FK Partizan might look tough.  So fingers crossed that we remain injury free.  I think we will top the group.  Reading on other blogs, I’ve seen mentions of how we have long travels to face those teams.  If we have to travel a long way, so do they have to get to the Emirates.

Group A and G are being touted as the most difficult groups.  Sp*rs have landed in group A with Inter, Bremen and Twente.  I hope Twente stuffs some goals up the tiny totts’ arse and they get hammered by Inter and Bremen.  That should put them in their right place.

MaNURE and the Chavs have also got easy groups, so I expect them to progress.  AC Milan and Real Madrid have landed up together, which should provide some entertainment unless Mourihno decides he needs to torture his fans to boredom.

So what do you think of our group, and please, do feel free to wish bad luck to Sp*rs in the comments!

Wenger Confirms Squillaci Signing

images[1] Days after the news that Sebastien Squillaci was set for Arsenal and was to undergo a medical, Arsene Wenger has finally confirmed that Squillaci is a gunner in today’s lunchtime press conference.  This seals the third signing for Arsenal after Chamakh and Koscielny.  Arsenal fans are known to be wanting a new goalkeeper and this leaves the manager with plenty of time to thrash out a move for a new number one.  Arsene Wenger also hinted at more that two signing, maybe a midfielder?  We will know in a few days, since the transfer window is drawing to a fast end.  Here’s what he said about Squillaci:

'he's a good player, at the right price and is a good signing for us.

Djourou Out For Liverpool Game

From yesterday’s preview for the Liverpool match, Wenger ruled out Djourou with a hamstring problem.  This comes as a real blow, since we have only young Havard Nordtveit left as backup.  With Alex Song, who can play at centre back equally doubtful, this leaves us real thin for the league.  Our remaining defenders need to be wrapped in cotton wool if we are to survive the first few weeks of the Premier League. Here are the exact quotes from the manager:

“We have some problems with Bendtner and Djourou (hamstring),”

Surely this signals the need for one or possibly two more centre backs.  With the season set to be underway in a few days, a new CB seems to be a priority.  What are your thoughts on this topic?

Fabregas Personally Confirms His Stay At Arsenal (Quotes)

Cesc Fabregas, Jan 2008“Firstly I would like to apologize to all the Arsenal fans for not speaking sooner about my future.  I cannot deny that joining a club like Barcelona was not an attractive move for me.  This was the club where I learnt my football, it is my home town where my friends & family are and a club where I have always dreamed of playing.  There are not many players in the world who would not want to play for Barcelona.  I am a professional and I fully understand that it is Arsenal's prerogative not to sell me.  I can assure all the fans that now the negotiations have ended I will be 100 per cent focused on playing for Arsenal.  I am an Arsenal player and as soon as I step out on to the pitch, that is the only club I will be thinking about.  I am looking forward to the start of the season and putting this speculation behind me.”

The above words are those of club captain Fabregas, who declared he is definitely going to stay at Arsenal, effectively ending any speculation of whether he will be transferred to Barcelona.

This should reassure Arsenal fans and those who questioned the captain’s commitment to the club.  Now that all uncertainties surround the stay of our captain is dissipated, the players aim to get their season underway and hopefully win some silverware this year.

Arsenal Logo History (Picture)

While browsing the net, I found the image below, which shows the evolution of the logo.  In all, there was 8 generation of logos.  Even I did not know some some them, but the way the logo has evolved to become what it is today is astounding! So take a break from all the transfer news and other gossips and enjoy the piece of Arsenal history below:

Fabregas Returns To Arsenal (Video)

Fabregas has return to Arsenal after a very unsettling summer full of speculation.  However, as Fabregas joined his teammates at the Emirates stadium, he looked evidently happy.  You can see a video footage of Fabregas back at the club he captains, below:

You can choose to assault the video maker for the stupid comments he added to the video.

Rosicky Off To Galatasaray?

tomas-rosicky-sr[1] Reports are emerging from the media that Rosicky might be quitting Arsenal in favor of a move to Galatasaray (source).  Rosicky, affectionately named “The Little Mozart”, came to Arsenal in 2006 but has had many injuries which prevented him from imposing himself in the Premier League

However, this year, he had a decent preseason with Arsenal and could have a more satisfying campaign with the club than in his previous seasons.

Will it be such a good idea to let Tomas Rosicky, captain of the Czech national team go?  If he goes, do we need to replace him?  Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments.

Liverpool FC Reporting That Torres Could Be Fit To Face Arsenal

torres263_4c57edb8b5c14058164412[1] Liverpool website is reporting that Fernando Torres might be fit to face Arsenal for the Premier League first match of the clubs (source).  This will surely put Arsenal’s new central defense partnership under test.

Torres, although not at his brilliant best during the World Cup, can do severe damage if left unattended on the pitch.

With several big names missing for Arsenal on the opening day of the EPL, the team will have to fight hard against Liverpool to gain their first league win for the new season.

Hodgson was quoted saying this on Torres:

"We won't risk him (against Rabotnicki) but we are still hopeful that, come the Arsenal game, it won't be out of the question to use him then - though I do realize the sports science people may tell me it's still too early."

What do you think of Torres starting against Arsenal?  Will he be too much for our new defense to handle?

Montpellier OFFICIALLY DENY Any Contact With Arsenal Over The Transfer Of Emir Spahić

Montpellier have officially released a statement on their official website denying any approach made by Arsenal over the possible transfer of Emir Spahić (source).

What do you think of this new twist in the Emir Spahić story?

Montpellier Defender Emir Spahić Linked To Arsenal (Video + Profile)

6[1] Emir Spahić, a defender who currently plays for Montpellier in Ligue 1 is being tipped for a move to Arsenal.  This 29 year old Bosnian also captains his national side.  He comes as a no nonsense type of defender, who is adept with playing with either foot.  Emir Spahić is quotes as having said this:

The most important thing is that so far the negotiations go as planned and that the transfer could be completed soon. Arsenal is a great club, I’m an admirer of Arsene Wenger and I hope that Montpellier will cooperate

Goal.com actually included him in their Ligue 1 team of the year (source), which tells a lot about the player.  Here is what Goal.com had to say about him:

Signed by Rene Girard last summer, the Bosnian was considered to be something of a risk as MHSC had only seen him play on DVDs. It was a gamble that paid off spectacularly as the 29-year-old has been one of France’s outstanding players over the course of the campaign, playing a pivotal role in La Paillade’s terrific success, which has seen them get into Europe in their first campaign amongst France’s elite.

L“Equipe also ranked Emir Spahić as the third best best defender in Ligue 1 for the 2009-2010 season (source).  Spahić is also know to have a bit of a temper, but overall he is a leader and plays with passion.  You can watch one of his videos below.  Tell us what you think about him!
