New boy Marouane Chamakh scored the first goal of the match by sliding the ball into the net past the oncoming goalkeeper from a neat Arshavin pass. However, after the break, Pato pulled a goal back for AC Milan from a set piece. In the earlier match, Celtic and Lyon drew 2-2.
